Srinagar, Mar 09 (KNO): Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Police in Ganderbal arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in the jurisdiction of PS Gund.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a surprise naka was laid by Police at Syed Basti Surfraw as part of routine surveillance and anti-narcotics measures. During the checking, one youth coming from Syed Basti Surfraw was intercepted in a suspicious manner. During search, Charas-like Contraband Substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bokda son of Sooba Bokda resident of Syed Basti Surfraw. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 04/2026 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Gund and further investigation has been taken up.
Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to cooperate with Police by sharing any information related to drug peddling so that strict legal action can be taken against offenders—(KNO)
